Baumholder, Germany Army
The restaurants on post are Burger King, Anthonys Pizza, Baskin Robbins, Popeyes, Taco Bell, Subway, and then there?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s food you can order from Shooters bar, and the food from the bowling alley is pretty good. Make sure try some Doners when you go offpost. You are allowed two animals, the vet is very good IMO, dogs must be on a leash at all times except in the dog park Baumholder bookoo is a great yardsale site to find used items You need to get a USAREUR license to drive in Germany, you must get an international license to drive outside of Germany and you can buy that for $10 in Birkenfield
Paris is about 4 1/2 hours away, Ramstein is a 1/2 hour away Gas is by the liter offpost and expenisive..the army gives you a 400 liter limit on gas for cars (trucks, SUVs, and minivans are allowed more) and you can use the ESSO card to get offpost gas cheaper There is a movie theater, theater, pool, craft store(on and offpost), and bowling ally
Offpost in Baumholder there is a Mcdonalds, and a German Grocery store, a chinese food place located near the grocery store that has a small buffet. There are several Doner shops that deliver also

Like any duty station with the Army, Baumholder is what you make of it!

We?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢ve lived here for almost 4 years. Deployments are harder when you live overseas. Stairwell living can be a serious adjustment if you are used to living in a single family house. It is a beautiful small german town with a lot of history. Our ACS is one of the BEST in the Army with wonderful programs and a team of very dedicated employees ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äú many of them retired military who WANT to stay here and help others! My advice is to study for your Germany drivers license ahead of time (especially all the different signs!) and hook up with ACS as soon as possible! THEY ROCK! :)

Oh ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äú and feel free to stop by my blog sometime for a daily taste of our lives living in Baumholder! http://www.household6diva.com

I dnk what information you are needing.. But we have been here almost a year.. It?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s a smaller base, housing is ALL stairwell living in less your husband is an E6 or able then you live off base of choice.. The PX is horrible, very small, very small variety and quite pricey.. Luckily we are very close to Ramstein AFB, about 20 or 30 minutes away.. So if we ever need anything we usually go there.. Their commissary there is huge as well, compared to ours. ACS here is very helpful and can help you out with just about anything. One thing I say about Baumholder, it will make ya or break ya.. Please to not base Germany on this place, cuz well you will see when you get here! I love the location, it is a prime location for traveling, and we are constantly traveling.
Def get your driver?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s license ASAP, it makes things so much easier.. I would reccommend getting an international driver?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s license before you come over, that way you are legal to drive in all other countries, Not just Germany!! If you have kiddo?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s they have all kinds of wonderful child programs, and play dates and such.. If you are planning to bring an animal over, email me and I can get more detailed.. Alot of units are being remodeled at the moment so dnk how long your wait will be but your prob looking at a month on the waiting list for housing.. We ended up having to stay in a hotel off base when we got here for that full month.. Talk about a culture shock.. Please feel free to email me any questions you may have, and I can help you out in any way I can
